How You can Get Involved

If you have a desire to help, and a passion to support vulnerable South Sudanese youth and children go to boarding schools in Uganda; then please get in touch about volunteering at CCC. We have volunteering opportunities specifically for the care facility (i.e. daily duties with the children and specific activities dependent on your interests/skills) and opportunities to work alongside at the holiday house.

We love hosting volunteers - short-term and long-term. We have a group of regular volunteers in-country, but we are happy to accommodate international volunteers on an individually assessed basis. Volunteers staying at the house when children are at school contribute 15 USD per day

All volunteers must sign a code of conduct to work with children, as you will have regular contact with the girls and boys at the home. You will also need to meet certain reference requirements.

To volunteer you should:

  • If under 20 years come with a friend

  • Be over 20 years old if you are alone

  • Be able to fund your own travel and living costs (e.g. flights, food, laundry, accommodation, visas etc)

  • Air fair ranging between $600-$1,200 depending on the season and airline company. You can check on line for (KLM, KQ, Egypt, Turkish Air and Fly Dubai)

  • 1 month = approx. $1,000

  • 6 months = approx. $5,000

  • 12 months = approx. $10,000

  • Sign a contract of commitment for the specified period

  • Enjoy working directly with children

  • Have an understanding or experience of working with vulnerable populations

Have a skill or skills you would like to share with the children at CCC, such as: 

  • Mentoring

  • Creative play

  • Homework support (teacher training desirable)

  • Musical instruments

  • Choir/Singing

  • Music, Dance and Dance

  • Crafts e.g. art, sewing, knitting

  • Nursing (qualified practitioner)

  • Physiotherapy (qualified practitioner)

  • Psychosocial Support or Counselling (qualified practitioner)

  • Proposal writing (experience required)

  • Communications and Media (experience required), video and photographer

  • Project Officers (experience required)

  • Fundraisers (experience required; ideally in UK, USA, the Netherlands)

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in volunteering in a different role to those we have online, as we assess potential volunteers on an individual basis. No skill is unimportant, and no level of experience is necessarily required – just a loving heart, and a passion to help!
